Question: I'm a 69 yr old male with diarrhea continually going on for a few months. I have no pain, just rumbling and diarrhea about an hour after eating. Doesn't matter what or how little I eat. I've recently been to my PCP, had blood work and urine done. But have not received any results yet.

Brief Answer:
Due to lactase enzyme deficiency.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

As per your clinical history is concerned please follow lifestyle modifications like this -

1) Do a clinical examination by your family Doctor and to rule out other possible pathological disorder do a [Stool exam].

2) Try to avoid large servings of milk and other dairy products in your regular meals.

3) Buy lactose-free products. You can find these products at most supermarkets in the refrigerated dairy section.

4) Use over-the-counter tablets or drops containing the lactase enzyme (Lactaid) may help you digest dairy products. You can take tablets just before a meal or snack. Or the drops can be added to a carton of milk.

5) Discuss with your Doctor about regular oral calcium supplements.

Hope that helps.
