My Son XXXX who is 7 years old and is currently studying in Grade 3. He is an extremely voracious reader and is very expressive verbally. However, when it comes to writing, he has no inclination to write at all. He doesn't write more than a couple of sentences in school and has to be constantly reminded and motivated to complete any writing activity. I am not sure how I can help my child in overcoming this obstacle so that he doesn't get lag academically due to this.
Thanks,
XXXX
Suggestions on difficulty and inabilty in writing
Detailed Answer:
Hi... I understand your concern. It’s not uncommon for children to have some kind of trouble with written expression, many kids have this initially.
It can be because of many issues- like -
Dysgraphia: This is difficulty in spelling and handwriting difficult due to lack of fine motor skills. The child may not understand how a letter should look like but may not be able to express it.
Dyspraxia: This involves not only writing but also other tasks like eating, brushing and play involving finger skills.
Dyslexia: This is reading difficulty. But it can also affect writing.
I suggest you get n touch with a child clinical psychologist regarding this and he or she will be the best person to diagnose and offer a comprehensive care.
