How Can Earache Be Treated Despite Using Alcohol To Drain Discharge?

Question: My 24 yr old son has had an earache for a few days. It is not inflamed, but it still aches. He has put alcohol inside and drained it back out, but no change.
Brief Answer:
No alcohol. Tylenol 1000mg/8hours and Ibuprofen 400mg/8hrs
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
The most common cause of earache in adults is a viral infection. Antibiotics are not always needed. I recommend a combination of Tylenol and ibuprofen as specified above. If pain persists or fever sets in, then he needs to get the ear examined.
Hope I have answered your query.
Take care
