How Can Hemoglobin Levels Be Maintained While On Radiation Therapy For Prostate Cancer?
Question: I have been diagnosed with prostate cancer, and my PSA reading has come back down to 7.8, one month ago. I want to avoid side effects from surgery or radiation, and I want to end my Hormone treatment before my Hemoglobin gets into the danger zone from my current 11.7 range. I heard that some older treatment used some kinf of small brush to clean out the cencer cells in the prostate glands like scrubing out a baby milk bottle. Is there such a treatment? Please advise. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Hello dear. There is no such effective treatment
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
You have not provided the detailed of the stage of disease, and the current treatment. Still i can make out that you received hormonal treatment which brought your disease under control. In advanced carcinoma prostate, hormonal treatment is taken for lifelong so as to keep the disease under check. There is no other alternative.
Thanks and regards

Thank you for the answer above. Since I started my ADT/AST on 2/8/2018, my PSA has been going down dramatically. From what I have learned, this indicates that my prostate gland with cancer tumor has been shrinking, or reducing in size.
My questions are as follows:
1) As my prostate gland has been shrinking, does my prostate cancer tumor in my prostate gland shrink as well, and proportionally?
2) If I also have tumor(s) elsewhere in my body while they may or may not be cancerous, will they also be shrinking since my PSA reading has been decreasing?
I have one more question, and that is related to the Immunotherapy. I understand that Immunotherapy may involve Provenge infusions. According to the Cancer Treatment Centers of XXXXXXX their Progenge Immunotherapy treatment typically takes six weeks, and is administered in three infusions every two weeks.
My question is: Does this Provenge Immunotherapy infusion contain chemical/substance that is radiation, which in turn can be cancer causing?
Thank you for your answers in advance.

Brief Answer:
Hello dear. Yes your tumor is shrinking
Detailed Answer:
Hello again. So PSA is a very good marker of tumor response to treatment and with decreasing levels, you should be rest assured that the tumor is shrinking in the prostate as well as at any other site in the body.
As far as immunotherapy is concerned, it helps to rebuild your body immunity against cancer and fight cancer cells from growing rapidly. It doesnot involve radiation.
Thanks and regards
