How Can Intense Vaginal Itching For Over Six Days Despite Taking Monistat Be Treated?
Question: I have had intense vaginal itching for 6 days. I used Monistat 1 day treatment 3 days ago and using the topical cream, and am not feeling better. I thought I was improving yesterday but woke up this morning with intense itching again. No or little discharge, although a little bloody spotting two days ago after the monistat treatment.

The intense itching with a little discharge that is not responding to monistat can be due to-
One is the resistant Candidiasis (yeast), this does present with intense itching and foul smelling curdy discharge.This condition can be easily treated with antifungals like Flucanazole.
The other possibility for such a problem is low estrogen levels leading to dryness in the vagina which stimulate the vaginal mucosa and cause itching.
Do get examined by a gynaecologist and ascertain the cause to get treated.

I do not have the foul smelling curdy discharge so the other option seems reasonable. What is my best temporary treatment until I can get in to see my doctor? That will be Monday at the earliest.
