default
Posted on Fri, 23 Apr 2021
Question: 1 yr old granddaughter not eating much since mom had a breast abcess (last Th or Fr), mom put on antibiotics & and granddaughter is more lethargic each day. She was on mom's milk with one tube of organic baby food a day, slowly transitioning. She is drinking some water, organic apple juice, berry juice , scrambled eggs. I know she needs more calories, but not interested in eating much. I am worried about her and wonder if something else could be wrong

Brief Answer:
You can give cow milk or formula milk

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for asking on this platform

I have gone through the query and do understand your concern.
As the baby is not yet transitioned from breast milk properly, she must be missing the mother's milk.
I won't get worried if she is passing urine adequately and there is no other significant complaints apart from letharginess.
Adequate urinary output indicates proper hydration and that the fluid reserve is adequate.
I would suggest you to give cow milk or formula milk as a substitute to breast milk. Continue other thing what you are giving.
Watch for urine output, any worsening in letharginess or any other significant associated symptoms and if you find any please consult your pediatrician.

I hope this helps.
Please let me know if you have any more questions.
Regards
