Brief Answer:
Mucositis of the tongue

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

The red spots on the lateral side of the tongue is inflamed mucosa of the tongue.

Do not worry! This is quite normal and most of the individuals do have similar lesions. The reason being, the mucosa of the back of the tongue is in close contact with the molar teeth and gets into constant friction with the teeth while chewing. This leads to inflammation of the mucosa.

You should not be bothered about this unless you are a smoker or tobacco chewer.

Hope this answers your query. I’ll be available for the follow up queries.

Brief Answer:
Do not worry! It's a simple mucositis...

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I have examined the images thoroughly and I would stick to my comments made earlier.

It is mucosal inflammation. You can try applying oral steroid preparations, eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, avoid coffee, crisps, and sharp food. If the symptoms persist, you can consult an apt Dentist to look for any calculus or sharp teeth margins traumatizing the tongue mucosa.

Hope this clarifies your doubts. Wish you good health.

Brief Answer:
It is neither Leukoplakia nor Erythroplakia...

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

As per my knowledge and experience are concerned, it is neither Leukoplakia nor Erythroplakia. Leukoplakia is a white patchy lesion that does not rub off on scraping. Whereas Erythroplakia is a reddish velvety lesion which can be easily identified.

In your case, it's just the inflamed tastebuds over the lateral surface of the tongue.

Hope this clarifies your doubts. Wish you good health.
