Brief Answer:
It may be due to chronic constipation. See details.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

As per your history, I think you are suffering from Chronic Constipation. It may cause lower abdominal pain. Other causes for left-sided lower abdominal pain are Indigestion, Gas, renal stone, pelvic inflammatory disease, referral pain due to endometriosis or an ovarian cyst. As you underwent bypass surgery, so more chances of Indigestion.

If Ex-Lax is ineffective then you can take syp. Duphalac. As this is a prescription medication so consult with your family doctor. Drink a lot of fluids. Take light food. Do regular exercise for a minimum of 30 minutes. Do you have fever, nausea, vomiting, blood burning micturition? Kindly follow up with detailed history.

I will suggest you do ultrasound abdomen and pelvis and follow up here with reports or consult with a surgeon. Treatment mainly depends on the underlying condition.

Hope I have answered your query.
