How Can Severe Cough Be Treated?

default
Posted on Thu, 22 Jun 2017
Question: My wife is 48. She has an awful cough about twice a year that can last for several weeks. She has broken ribs on two different occasions. She has never smoked nor is she exposed to it. Visits to doctors have yielded no results. Otherwise healthy. Please advise.

Brief Answer:
Allergy

Detailed Answer:
Dear sir ,

I have gone through your question and I understand your concerns but since this occurs twice per year then this could be due to seasonal allergy that should be treated with an antihistaminic as Zyrtec once daily before going to bed and a mast cell stabilizer as singulapr once daily for 14 days.

If these medications do not resolve her condition then she needs to perform an MRI chest to exclude the presence of aspiration pneumonia , masses and asthma .

I hope I answered your question.
