How Can Severe Pain In One Arm After Accidentally Overdosing On Warfarin Be Cured?
Question: I am having severe pain in one arm after accidentally overdosing on warfarin. I am stabilized now but wondering if there is anyway to lessen the pain.
Brief Answer:
Yes, discussion follows
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome and thanks for your query.
I understand your concern.
You cannot use a NSAID like Ibuprofen for pain relief as it had adverse interaction with warfarin.
You can use Gabapentin ( Neurontin) 300mg at bed time as it does not have interaction with warfarin. It works on the nerve fibres to reduce the pain perception. If needed you can increase the daily dose to 600mg.
Do get back to me if you have further queries.

I have been taking gabapentin and requip for severe restless leg syndrome for quite a while and don't seem to feel any pain relief. Any other suggestions or will I just have to grin and bear it. (Forget the grin part.) At any rate I appreciate you trying to help me.

Thank you for the input.
Sorry for the delay in replying as we live in two different time zones.
There are two alternatives.
1. Increase the dose of Gabapentin if you are currently taking less than 900mg per day.
2. Add Amitriptyline 25 mg to 75 mg at bed time .
I expect these to help you .
Best wishes,
