Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for choosing HealthcareMagic for your query.
I have noted all your details.
Most likely cause of his symptoms is gastroentritis better termed as inflammation of the inner lining of intestines due to infection. Most of the times this infection is caused by viral infection and is self limiting in nature .However in some cases bacteria or proytozoas are also involved(usually if blood is there).
As blood there along with stools it can be due to infection of Shigella Or Pathogenic E.coli.So it can be shigella enteritis and bacillary dysentery.Common symptoms of bacillary dysentry include diarrhoea that may contain blood, mucus or pus indigested food, abdominal cramps, nausea and vomiting. Smal pebbles can be due to indigestion.
Initially before taking any medication a stool test should be done to rule out shigella or E.coli as cause of problem.Giving a anti diarrheal(imodium) is not recommended because in case if problem is due to bacteria;imodium will cause constipation hence would lead to stagnation of bacteria's in intestines.
Give him plenty of electrolyte solution(electral) one glass with every stool.
Appropriate antibiotics to kill the bacteria or protozoa(A pack along with metronidazole) should be given for 5 days.
Go to the chemist to get electral or rehydration solution.
Keep a watch on his blood pressure if systolic is less then 100mm of hg intravenous fluids may be needed.
Avoid eating any solid food give him soups and fruit juices.
For pain give antispasmodic like Drotraverine.
