How Can Throat Pain And Fever Be Managed?

Question: My son is 24kg...he had throat pain and fever.Doc said to give clamp kid forte and crocin...today is 3rd day of dosage but still no relief in pain...shall I stop clamp kid forte and give agumentin .

Hi,

Sore throat in children can be caused due to some viruses like Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) (causes mono), or some bacteria like Streptococcus (causes Strep throat). Irrespective of the cause or the intake of antibiotics like Clamp Forte/Augmentin, all you need to do is to make him gurgle with lukewarm water and recovery will occur in a week or so.

If crocin is not adequate for pain relief, he may gurgle with Disprin Dispersible tab added to the water. I hope that will provide relief.
