How Can You Tell The Difference Between Bone And Muscle,

Question: How can you tell the difference between bone and muscle, tendon or ligament pain in the upper leg? Two weeks ago i trapped myself in my blankets trying to keep warm from the cold weather. When i tried getting out of my blankets i was squirming the top and lower half of my body in different directions. When i finally got out i heard a snap or crack. Now sure for a while the pain was just mild and not really bothering me. My leg felt a bit stiff when moved in certain directions but not any real concerning pain. However, a few days ago the pain got worse. See i have a very demanding job as a cashier in retail where i am on my feet 5 to 8 hours a day. I do not exactly remember what i did except move my leg or whatever too fast or move it oddly but the pain has gotten worse. Its not the hip but the area between the center of the leg where the top of the femur and the hip both rest. This pain feels like a spasm when i walk. Some movements hurt it while others do not. For example i can bend my knee behind my leg but if i lift my knee to the hip it hurts. If i had to describe that pain it feels kinda like a bruise or sprain but a more intense. Is there a chance i broke something???
Brief Answer:
It could be a ligament sprain.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Most probably it will be a ligament sprain. Fracture or complete tear is unlikely because in that case, you will not be able to walk.
As of now, you can use over the counter available analgesics/anti-inflammatory combination like aceclofenac/serratiopeptidase for symptomatic relief. Warm compression can be applied for symptomatic relief.
Generally, the symptoms will settle or decrease in intensity in a couple of weeks.
If symptoms persist better to consult an orthopedic and plan for an MRI scan.
Thanks
