How Different Is Clexane To Warfarin?
Question: How different is clexane to warfarin?
Also I refuse to use warfarin because of the bad side effects and that it is a side product from rat poison. Even thought have had so many doctors trying to talk me into it. Have taken 1 whole disprin each day and fine. Recently due to a constrictly support sock/stocking I developed a blood clot in a varicous vein. Have been put on clexane self inject for 2 weeks. After that they are going to give me the hard word on warfarin which I refuse to touch. Is there a safer alternative with less chance of excessive bleeding?

Brief Answer:
Clexane shall work if not then warfarin it is
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking
i read your question and i understand your concern. Clexane is a low molecular weight heparin and is safer anti coagulant compared to warfarin which inhibits vitamin k dependant clotting factors and has prolonged effects.
If clexane did not respond to the bleeding diathesis and is not enough then they have to put you on warfarin but i am sure it won't come to that. Low molecular weight heparins are safer and should be preferred.
I hope it helps. take good care fo yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.

Thank you for your reply.
Can you suggest any other low molecular weight heparins to take permanently or these only used short term?
Will be more than happy to go back to 1 disprin a day after this, but if my doctor gets insistent about warfarin, then would like to know about a back up option.
Many thanks

Brief Answer:
Alternatives provided, consider warfarin though. Its not as bad as u think
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back!
the problem with low molecular weight heparins is that they are used maximally for 2 weeks and 17 days is recorded maximum usage for them. Warfarin is advised to start with in 72 hours of the LMWH therapy. You may be afraid of warfarin too much. The medications is easily titratable and can be adjusted in dosages to prevent bleeding diathesis and one should not avoid it as it is drug of choice after all in DVTs.
If you still insist avoiding warfarin there are many other anticoagulants you can discuss with your doctor and hematologist and let them decide what is best for you . You can discuss rivaroxaban ( xarelto), apixaban ( eliquis), fondaparinux ( arixtra) , heparin etc.
I hope it helps.
Take care
