How Do I Get Rid Of A Red Line Around The Neck?
Question: I have a red line around my neck. No pain, just people always asking me if I recently hung myself or something. How do I get rid of it?

The two most likely things that might be causing it is a fungal infection or a local irritation in the family of dermatitis or eczema. Both of them can be treated with local creams.
So, I would recommend to you:
- use a combination of antifungal and steroid cream together twice a day
- using it together will help address both problems and is well tolerated by patients. If you use only a steroid cream it might make the fungal infection worse so it is safer to use them together.
- if you do not find them as a combination you can buy creams separately and then apply both at the same time twice a day
- try to avoid contact in the area with chemicals like perfumes, or necklace to avoid the risk of reaction. Avoid woolen clothes that have parts around the neck- cotton clothes are less irritating on the skin.
- at midday, you can use a usual moisturizing cram locally to keep the skin hydrated as the sometimes dry skin is more likely to break and have the rash
- if you do not see an improvement with this treatment in 4-5 days then you will need to see a doctor for further clinical evaluation.
