Question: How do I prepare for surgery to repair a hernia, lower right abdomen? I'm expecting admission papers from Dr. Palmer for 8-14- surgery

As there is no Medical treatment for Hernia, Surgery is the only option.
There is no specific preparation for Surgery.
But,few things you should be aware of.
You should not lift heavy weights, because in some individuals bowel gets stucked (Obstructed) inside the Hernial sac leading to Very painful condition.Then, Surgery has to be done as an Emergency.
You should stop smoking if you have the habit.
Lungs should be clear.Coughing leads to Recurrence of Hernia.
