![default](/r/images/default.png)
P.R.I.C.E MM-protect,rest,ice, compression, medication, modalities
Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic
Muscular pain can be treated using the acronym P.R.I.C.E MM. This stands for - protect from further injury, R- rest to allow for healing , I- ice therapy ,C-compression, E- elevation, M- medication, M-modalities
Protect- avoid any movements or activities that would aggravate or worsen the injured area.
Rest as much as possible
Ice therapy or cold compress is used initially for the first few days, it can be used 2 to 4 times a day for 10 to 15 mins.
If the pain persists beyond a few days, then warm compress is used, 2 to 4 times daily for 10 to 15 mins
At this stage, you can use warm therapy.
Compression- this is helpful if there is any swelling but it would be difficult in this area
E- elevation of the affected lower limb would also be helpful to reduce pain
M- medication such as anti inflammatory meds and muscle relaxant
Anti inflammatory meds include ibuprofen, naproxen, cataflam, celebrex etc
Muscle relaxants may require a prescription eg flexeril, XXXXXXX
Modalities refer to options such as physiotherapy but this would not likely be necessary at this stage
I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
