Question: How do you date the age (like what week) of the baby?

I ask because my wife and I are not together physically, she lives in one state, I work in another. We last had sex on or about the 15th of march, but her Dr. Says she is 8 weeks pregnant. I would never imagine that she would cheat, but I am struggling with the evidence at this point.

General chronological order of events.
06 March flight landed
09 March consummated our marriage
13 March first argument
14-17 March last time we had sex
22 March I fly back (last time we saw one another)
1 April first time she felt tiered
15-17 April it's officially an ectopic pregnancy, we found out due to some other XXXXXXX concerns, although it was a "possible" in a conversation we had previously. (Yes I am aware of how rear this is)
17 April- 21 May baby slowly moves into place, 10- 15 May apx. EDD is estimated to be 27 Dec. Unofficially
15 - present I realized the numbers don't add up
22 May baby is officially in the right place, Dr. says she is 8 weeks 0 days pregnant. I realize that 8 weeks ago I had been out of town for about a week. I asked a few "excited to be a father" questions to get the following information.
LMP 3 March
New EDD 8 Dec
Added this information into the pregnancy calculation and she should be 11 weeks and 2 days today..... How likely is it that the reading is off? Or the Dr miss interpreted something? Or I need to have an uncomfortable conversation?

If a conversation is needed, how does a guy approach that without completely destroying his relationship? Because I don't want that devastation to my relationship if there is some kind of medical reasoning (symptoms of the ectopic pregnancy, result from sexual abuse in growing up and with late husband, last two children were not full term)

Please be a voice of reason, and not give me malicious advise, it has already been enough of a rollercoaster, I would rather not do another loop if it's not necessary.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for letting us know your health concern.

I have gone through the query and would like to offer my opinion.

1. Firstly, please note that ovulation occurs 2 weeks prior to the onset of the next period. In a normal 28 day cycle, it is easier to calculate the age of the pregnancy. However, if the cycles are prolonged, it becomes difficult to do so.

2. When there is any doubt regarding the age of the pregnancy, a second sonogram, preferably in the trans-vaginal route, is performed in the early trimester. This gives a more appropriate idea. Usually, there is a+or - 2 week error in a single reading.

3. If an ectopic pregnancy was diagnosed earlier which later corrected, I would like to see the investigation done to confirm. It is possible that there could be a minor anatomical defect of the uterus causing such situation.

4. Based on these details, I would suggest that you think of what you should do next. Think twice before you commit anything.

Hope you find this information useful. Please feel free to contact for further clarifications. I will be happy to help.

regards,
Shanti.V.

24 May my flight landed and she picked me up at the airport.
24 May we briefly discuss it, she tells me she is 11w + pregnant, and the conversation was left there.
24-27 May although she has previously eaten a lot, throughout the weekend she has not eaten much. Her morning sickness was not present for a day and 1/2. She continuously projected out her stomach an kept he hand on it (I noticed by putting my fist long ways against her lower back while walking next to her, and shoulder to buttocks my fist disappeared)
27 May before flying out and she is upset that I would even question what is going on, as there is still no explanation as to why her Dr. says one thing and she says another.

What can I do from my end to put this to rest?

God willing and with His blessing,

Hello,

Thanks for writing back.

In the current scenario, you are the better judge. As I mentioned earlier, a follow up sonogram should be able to clarify things.

A very early pregnancy cannot be felt over the abdomen, not until 14-16 weeks.

Please consult your doctor if you have any questions about the situation. Take a well informed decision.

Hope this helps.

regards,
Shanti.V.
