How Do You Get Rid Of A Cold, Severe Cough, Sore Throat And Intermittent Fever?

Question: I have had a very bad cough for 6 days. First day was just sore throat. Have not been able to talk since then due to sore congested throat. Cough medicine has not helped much. Cannot sleep due to coughing. Also intermittent fever. Do you have any suggestions?
Brief Answer:
Antibiotics are a better choice in this situation.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
You seem to have acute pharyngitis spreading to larynx and bronchus. It most likely need an antibiotic which is prescription based medicine.
Do you bring out sputum during a cough? I read that you tried a few medicines including Robutussin. If you are not having sputum then you can take Robutussin D. You can take this before sleep for better sleep. Tomorrow you can go in for antibiotic prescription.
Add PRILOSEC OTC as well. Warm salt water gargles and honey soothes the throat if it pains.
Voice rest is needed.
