How Do You Increase Melatonin In The Evening?

Question: I have recently discovered that, like melatonin, higher levels of a substance called Adenosine toward the evening aids in the process of falling asleep.

However, unlike melatonin, I am finding neither supplements that directly supply adenosine nor any information on how to increase it toward the evening.

How do you increase it in the evening?

It is true that studies have shown that the adenosine plays an important role in the sleep-awake cycle, besides other roles in the organisms related mainly to the energy consumption, inflammation, etc.

The regulation of the sleep-awake cycle is done through the receptors of the adenosine in the brain cells.

Adenosine seems to act as a direct negative feed-back inhibitor of neuronal activity.

Natural ways to increase adenosine levels and promote good sleep include exercise few hours before sleep, following a ketogenic diet, and using substances found in natural products that inhibit the enzyme that breaks down the adenosine ( curcumin, citrus, stinging nettle supplements, etc.).
