How Does Modus Help In Treating Uterine Fibroids?
Question: I am 37. I have been diagnosed with uterine fibroids during a normal health check up. Though I have flatulence and bloating. My periods were normal until this cycle after my ultrasound showed fibroids.I had clots and it continues till 6th day. I consulted gynea and he prescribed Modas 10mg for 6 days to be taken from 20th day of my cycle.
How is Modas 10mg going to affect the periods or the fibroids and how does it help in my case?

Modus has progesterone which works by stabilizing the endometrial lining of uterus and thus preventing the breakdown of Blood vessels making them supported by matrix.
It will instantly decrease bleeding and if used longer can decrease the size of uterus also.
But its a momentary effect which will eventually need removal of fibroids or uterus as a whole in case bleeding persists.

How can Uterus size be decreased?
Next, the bleeding has stopped now and I a supposed to take Modas 10mg from 26th Feb (i.e. day 20 of my cycle) for 6 days every cycle for next two months after I see doc again.
I guess removal of fibroids doesn't rule out the resurgence of the same. Removal of Uterus (Hysterectomy) is the last refuge. The biggest fibroid is 4cmx4cm. I beleive only a constant enlarging fibroid will need removal of Uterus?? I have no issues yet so I would like to rule out hysterectomy..Pls enlighten.

But this reduction in size is only transient and the size of fibroids will eventually again start increasing.
Yes you are right that new fibroids will keep on forming in those women who a tendency for fibroids.
Fibroid of size 4×4 cm doesn't need removal because of size but in case you get severe symptoms like excessive bleeding in periods or increased frequency of urination then removal in the form of myomectomy (in case you want to avoid hysterectomy) will be needed to resolve the symptoms because slowly and slowly modus will not be able to help you in decreasing amount of bleeding during periods.
There are some more types of methods to decrease size of fibroids like uterine artery ablation and MRI guided ultrasound ablation of fibroids but these are costly but still you can consider them once.
