How Does One Go About Changing Their Doctor When Diagnosed With Chronic Pain?
Would need a bit more info
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Okay, obviously pain management doctors get more money by doing procedures. When the procedures have been done, then they move on. Some pain management doctors might be different. These would generally be associated with University Hospitals.
Alternatively would be primary care doctors treating pain. They are going to not want to prescribe controlled substances such as narcotics. If there have been drug issues such as overuse of narcotics, withdrawal from taking them, taking them from sources other than one particular doctor, etc., frankly the situation gets easier and methadone or Suboxone can be used. These narcotics have strong effects on pain. In the case of Suboxone, it has a maximal effect equivalent to between 70 and 120 mg of Percocet per day and with methadone there is not a limit to the pain effect it can achieve.
Hope I have answered your query.
Thank you.
