Brief Answer:
Provide more infromation.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to health care magic,

Diaphragm is a kind of internal skeletal muscle which separates the chest cavity (containing the heart and lungs) from the abdominal cavity (stomach, intestines).

It performs an important function in respiration (as it contracts, the volume of the thoracic cavity increases and air is drawn into the lungs and thus helps in respiration) but it has almost no role in digestive system or bowel movements.

However,it may rise the intro-abdominal pressure by descending downwards or relaxing during respiration and may assist to expel out the bowels contents.

If you have a problem of irritable bowel syndrome then it has nothing to do with diaphragm or its swelling.

Here,I would like to know the symptoms and duration of your irritable bowel syndrome.

Also let me know how did you suspect swelling in diaphragm.
Did someone tell you or you are suspecting on your own?
Are you taking any medications for the same?

We will discuss the matter once you will give me more information regarding your problem.

Regards,

Dr.Sandip Kabra
