How Effective Is Rabipur Shot When Given Within 10 Mins Of Dog Bite?
1. Our doctor gave the TT and Rabipur in the gluteal region , is that a concern?
2. How effective is Rabipur, I read few articles over Internet that Rabipur failed in some cases?
3. Are there any more precautions I need to take apart from completing the Rabipur course?
4. Also please suggest me if I can paralelly use homeopathy?
I know I have lot of doubts, but please help me as I am very much worried.
FOLLOW A COMPLETE DOSING SCHEDULE
Detailed Answer:
dear,
Welcome to HCM
I understand the concern and stress you must be through.
You have nicely put up your query, thanks.
well. the doctor did the correct thing by giving a dose of TT and Rabipur vaccine. Generally a three dose schedule is followed in case of grade I and five dose schedule in grade II bite. Bleeding from wound is suggestive of grade III bite and hence a five doses(day 0,3,7,14,28) schedule is required.
Rabipur is very effective, if properly stored, correctly and timely administered it can be completely effective.
No specific precaution required to be followed, besides any other incidents of bite by that same dog can be explored into. Look out for general symptoms of flu, like fever, etc in your daughter. COMPLETE THE SCHEDULE DOSING as advised.
Homeopathy has limited role in this, not recommended.
provoked bite incident goes against rabies in dog.
welcome for further suggestions

immunoglobulin can be given
Detailed Answer:
Immunoglobulin can be given. However, its given mostly when there is very high risk involved such as confirmed evidence of dog bite from a rabid dog, or grade 3 bite.
If can effective when given upto within a week of bite.
Your treating doctor can be consulted regarding it.
Though giving only vaccine is also equally effective.
grade III wound, immunoglobulin can be considered
Detailed Answer:
well, the pink part on the great toe is a nail polish and not wound, am I right? kindly clarify this.
In the centre there are marks of the dog bite. the wound does not appear to be deep.
Important things to consider here, that could alter the management are:
1) whether there was bleeding?
2) as the site is foot, it is a Grade III bite
If there was bleeding from this wound, then giving of immunoglobulin should be discussed and needs to be considered.
The risk being of allergy to it, therefore should be given after allergy testing and under observation.
welcome for further queries
