How Effective Is VDM Kit For White Vaginal Discharge?
It is a combi kit
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for your query.
VDM kit is a combination kit that contains 1 tablet of fluconazole 150 mg, 1 tablet azithromycin 1g and secnidazole 2 tablets of 1 g each.
If you go to a doctor complaining of white discharge, they tackle with it in two ways. Either they prescribe such a combi kit that kills fungi, bacteria and anaerobes respectively. or they suggest tests to find the cause.
I personally feel that combination kits should not be employed. Pap smear and urinalysis should be done to find the cause. If bacteria are found then antibiotics should be taken. If anaerobes found then their specific medicine should be taken. If fungi are found then it should be left alone and topical anti-fungals should be employed like clotrimazole suppositories. Fluconazole is an anti-fungal. It can alter the normal flora and should not be employed so casually. In my opinion it should be employed only if immunosuppression is present. If white discharge (i.e leukorrhea) is due to fungal infection, then one should not aim for cure.
Azithromycin and secnidazole have comparatively lesser side effects and can be taken.
Hope it helps.
