How Effective Is Chemotherapy In Condition Like Colon Cancer?
Question: Does chemotherapy only work in some ppl with colon cancer? What js the percentage rate?
Brief Answer:
It cant be calculated precisely
Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome to HCM.
It depends on several factor.s is chemo performed after or before surgery or there wasnt surgery at all. After surgical resection of whole tumor without signs of metastases, chemo is used if lymph nodes ar4 involved and in this case 5 year survival can be achieved in 60-70% of people. If there is dukes C of cancer or metastases and no possibility of surgical resection then prognosis is poor and complete cure can be achieved with chemo only in about 5% of people, while 2 year survival is about 50%.
WIsh you good health. Regards

Brief Answer:
it may be confusing but there are no doubts about metastases
Detailed Answer:
There are several possible explanations, but first i need to say that there are no doubts that these are liver metastases and that there is progression of liver lesions ,serious progression. What happnned in 2013,was it simple liver cyst that disappear(which is possible) or radiologist didnt mention another lesions in liver or he didnt pay attention to this cyst in future findings,it is hard to say. also it is possible that liver cyst became malignant. but it doesnt matter now, unfortunately this is serious malignant disease and it could not have been changed. liver mets have tendency to grow fast and multiply in short time. I dont see recent whole liver ct scan.
If i could see it , i could tell you the possiblity of further treatment. thee is a procedure called ALPPS(Associating liver partition and portal vein ligation for staged hepatectomy ) an it may be used as last hope for patients with serious liver involvement. But all in all, prognosis is poor and you dont need to expect much from cehmo,I am afraid.
