How Effective Is Dialysis In Managing Creatinine Levels When Diagnosed With Renal Failure?
My father has renal failure and his creatinine was 12.5 and after dialysis it has come to 8. What should we expect in coming days ? Is dialysis permanent treatment or kidney will start working back or should we plan for transplant?Kindly advise.
Thanks

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query
I understand how anxious you might be regarding your father. Going on dialysis is a shock to the patient as a well as the family members.
In order to decide whether or not the dialysis requirement is permanent I need a few more details
1. How did he land up with kidney failure? Is he a diabetic or hypertensive since a long time?
2. Did he have kidney disease prior to initiation of dialysis? if yes, how long?
3. How much urine is he passing per day?
4. If it would be wonderful if you could attach his reports. If not possible I would be grateful if you could type out his blood urea ( BUN/Urea), Hemoglobin, Uric acid, Calcium and phosphorus, kidney size in ultra sound
Kidney transplant or permanent dialysis is not required if it is not an acute event. I can certainly help you to decide the next steps but to do that I need to understand the patient's condition well
