In my opinion, halasana and sarvangasana, both have benefits like improved thyroid functioning and also strengthens the spine muscles. Usually a person goes from halasana to sarvangasana , this requires little practice in the beginning and since the neck and shoulder muscles are involved, doing it wrongly can lead to serious problems. This is the reason it is best done under direct guidance of a yoga acharya.
