How Fast Does PLS Progress I Am Diagnosed Me With PLS ?

Question: My neurologist just diagnosed me with PLS. I am in a state of disbelief. She said no treatment, incurable and progressive. The thing that bothers me the most is that it could become ALS. How often does this happen? How fast does PLS progress? What is considered the trunk of the body, since that becomes affected after the limbs. How much of me will be incapacitated?

Brief Answer:
The progression of the PLS may last around 20 years.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I have read your query.

Primary lateral sclerosis is a neurodegenerative disorder that progresses more slowly than ALS and in most cases is not fatal.

The trunk of the body is considered the part of the body below the neck without the limbs.

The progression of the PLS may last around 20 years, but this and the degree of the disability differs from person to person.

It is unclear if it may progress to ALS or not.

This condition affects more life quality than life expectancy.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Let me know if I can assist you further.
Thanks.
