How Frequently Should A Catheter Be Drained In A Paralytic Patient?
Question: Hi Doc, my grand mother is having paralysis in right half... so she is completely on bed.. that's why we had to use urine pipe.. can u please tell me, how frequently the pipe should be changed...?

Thanks for your query ,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that your grand mother has been catheterized to drain her bladder because of hemiplegia .
Ideally the catheter has to be changed every 4-6 weeks but if it gets clogged due to debris that usually gets formed due to foreign body reaction to catheter may need to be changed earlier .

Dr., there are two types of catheter available in market, silicon and other one.. did it carry any importance in term of duration..? if yes, then what duration..
