How High Was The Risk Of My Exposure?

default
Posted on Thu, 3 Oct 2024
Question: I started PEP 16 days ago. I potentially may have been exposed. I grabbed a mans penis which had precum coming out and accidentally touched the opening of my penis/urethra with his the precum on my fingers. He said that he tested for HIV last December and that just wasn’t good enough for me. Will the PEP work? And, how high was the risk of my exposure? I started my PEP within 15 hours of the potential exposure. So far I have had no sore throat or fever. I have however been really tired, some congestion, and have had hot flashes occasionally. These pills have taken a toll on me mentally and physically.

Brief Answer:
Very risky exposure, pep will work.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I read your query and here is my advice.
I think you have had a very high risky exposure to HIV. You have started the PEP early so I believe it will work well on preventing you from HIV infection.
You may feel tired, anxious, trouble sleeping, exhausted which are all side effects of the drugs you are taking.
These side effects will go away as you finish the therapy.
I think it will work well on preventing you from taking HIV.
Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Thanks.
