Brief Answer:
Laser is not needed in hydrocele surgery.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.

Let me clear some of your doubts before we proceed further.

Laser is a source of energy to cut and coagulate the tissues. It is more precise. The similar work is also done by routine cautery source. There may be centers who are using laser for simple cutting and coagulating.

There are 2 standard techniques for operation of the hydrocele.
1. Lord's procedure in which the sac is plicated on its own after opening the sac and draining the fluid. This is most suitable for smaller hydrocele and where the wall of hte sac is thin.
2. Opening of the sac, excision of the excess diseased part of the sac. This is most suitable for large sac or where the sac is thick or where it is multi-locular.

Per say there is no role of laser in hydrocele surgery.
Both the procedures pretty simple, routinely done, many times on a day-care basis and have the least complications.

I hope this answers your query. Please feel free to ask for further relevant queries or if you feel that there is a gap-of-communication.
