Question: I have had kidney stones in the past. Is it possible for me to pass a stone from my kidney to my bladder and not pass it when I urinate? My pain is in the area of my bladder but not all the time. I do not have any apparent blood in my urine. It may be microscopic but I can't see any.

Brief Answer:
It is possible.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Welcome to HealthcareMagic!

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

Usually when a kidney stone breaks free, begins to move down the ureters to get in bladder and then in urethra and finally out of the body.
Usually these stones go out with urine flow .They may be noticed in urine or sometimes they break down in small pieces that can not be seen in urine.

But sometimes can happen that kidney stones after passing through ureters ,arrive in bladder and stay there.
These stones increase their size after some time and can cause recurrent infections ,pain in lower abdomen ,frequent urination ,pain and burning sensation during urination ,blood in urine etc.

You may need to run some tests including:
-Urinalysis to exclude an urinary tract infection
-abdominal ultrasound .
-abdominal X-ray.
These studies can visualize the stone if it is present in your bladder.

Meanwhile you should drink plenty of fluids (8-10 glasses a day) .This increases urine flow and increases the possibility that the stone get out .It also reduces the risk of further stone formation.

Hope it helps.
Let me know if you have any other question or doubt to clarify.I will be happy to assist you further.
