Brief Answer:
Kindly refer below

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Both are imaging modalities used to identify whether there is any blockage inside the coronary arteries or not.

Calcium scan are highly accurate and assess the amount of calcified plaques in coronary arteries.

I am not able to see any attached pictures. Kindly try to re-upload them.

I tried again to upload the picture. The ultrasound image from the company doing the ultrasound procedure seems to show the artery with plaque on the sides and how much of the interior of the artery is blocked. Picture se rms to say only half the artery diameter is open for blood flow. Does the CAC value tell how much off the artery is open for blood flow. Example . CAC of 500 means half of I interior of artery means. X% of artery is open? For blood flow ?

Detailed Answer:
See, CAC score (Agatston score) is basically a risk stratification of presence of plaque inside arteries. The higher the score, the more like is the presence of plaque inside.

For example: CAC score of 1-10 is suggestive of a small amount of plaque, 101-400 suggests moderate amount of plaque is present and a score of more than 400 is suggestive of a large plaque and chances of contracting a heart attack is high.

Yes, it does give an idea about how much lumen of the artery is blocked and how much is open.

Also it tell about the location of the plaques.

My CAC had the left arterial descending at 603. Up front 529 in 2021..and total. 1545. Up from 1255 in 2021. Yes, I am seeing a cardiologist. Can these numbers be used to estimate the lumen opening?

Brief Answer:
Hello again

Detailed Answer:
No Sir, these scores do not estimate lumen. However your scores for CAC are significant.

What's the advice of your cardiologist?
