Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I can understand the concerns that you have for a 2 year old baby.
Let me clear your important doubts first.
Surgery for tongue tie release is done for two main reasons:
Firstly, if the person can not clean the under-surface of tongue that is floor of mouth.
Secondly, when certain alphabets can not be spoken with clearly that need the tongue to touch the hard palate. Like Ta, tha, da, dhan, na .... cerebrals, dentals and semivowels
Please check for these if our baby has started speaking well.
Surgery per se is very easy, without any bleeding, healing is very fast as the tissue that keeps tongue attached to the floor of mouth is usually blood less and papery thin. No precautions needed,
Let me answer your questions:
1. It is safe if the baby is healthy without any medical problems.
2. Laser not needed.
3. Stitches are usually not needed.
4. hardly a day for healing.
5. absolutely normal.
6. No side effects.
7. no special precautions needed.
8. First of all see if surgery is required or not as explained in details above. If surgery is needed there is no other way.
I hope this answers your query. Do not worry, check for the things I mentioned above.
Regards
Thanks for detailed answer.
I missed to mention that my baby girl is 2months old.
We were very scared to do surgery for toung-tie, but your answers have give us lot of insight and better understanding of it.
Have understood from you that its safe & no other go without surgery.
Here are few other queries, kindly answer them too.
1. Should we go for a surgery now (2 months old) or should we wait for a more time? If we have to wait, then after how much age should we do a surgery?
2. Does laser is preferred to infant? Or other surgery method?
3. In case of surgery does doctor give anesthesia? If so, is it safe to infant?
4. Does it toung stick again? What precautions to take for it to not stick again?
5. Can feeding be given immediately after surgery or any other liquid? If other liquid could you suggest which one?
6. If feeding is stopped, after how many does can it be resumed?
Please give us any other suggestion in this regard.
Thanks again for taking time to reply to these queries.
Thank You, XXXXXXX
is there any problem with the baby?
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
As already mentioned the only indications are as discussed above and it is practically impossible to know these for a baby of 2 months old.
So nothing to worry about unless there is any problem.
Is there any problem with the baby?
Please give details
My little baby does vomitings 10-15 times a day, other than this there is no problem with baby.
>So nothing to worry about unless there is any problem.
You mean not to do surgery now and wait for few more months?
please suggest.
Thank You, XXXXXXX
Relax for tongue tie at the moment
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Yes, not to worry unless there is any problem.
So much vomit or regurge needs proper evaluation and investigations by Pediatrician or Pediatric Surgeon; needs to rule out the causative factors and get treated accordingly.
I hope, the baby is gaining normal weight.
