How Long After Sulpiride Dosage Does It Take Effect?

To help the work of Solian (amisulpride) 100 mg my psychiatrist decided to add just Sulpiride 25 mg, i would like to know how long it takes to work (my psychiatrist said one week or so).
Thanks beforehand, XXXXXXX

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX I hope this message finds you well!
Sulpiride 25mg is a fine choice as an augmenting (add-on) agent. At doses below roughly 500-600mg, and certainly at the very low dose of 25mg, it acts as a dopamine blocker at inhibitory dopamine receptors -- this means it actually gives a tiny dopamine BOOST, which can have antidepressant and anti-OCD effects, and may help with your obssesive preoccupations as we have discussed. So this decision makes sense.
To answer your question, the primary action of this medication is at dopamine receptors. Unlike medications which work significantly upon serotonin receptors (including Solian to some degree, though there are prominent dopamine effects too as you know), medications that work on dopamine receptors can work very quickly, typically within 4-10 days. So your psychiatrist is basically right, it will work in a number of days.
Please do let me know how this new medication goes! We can work together to address side effects or further dose changes to achieve the effects you want.
