How Long After Hemorrhoid Banding Procedure Can Recovery Be Expected?

Question: I recently had a hemmorhoid banded and it has not fallen off after 2 weeks. My gastroenterologist said i had wait it out or have surgery. How much longer before it falls off. Dr. Said it is still there.

We usually wait for maximally 4 weeks and after that we consider that banding is unsuccesful, although in most cases, results should be seen after 2 weeks only. At least less pain should be felt. If there is no improvement after 4 weeks, you should consider surgical treatment.
