How Long Do Rib Injury Symptoms Take To Subside?
Question: four months ago I dislocated my rib on the left side, I felt slight pain, had some difficulties catching my breath and noticed a lump on the sternum and pain in the back, after dealing with this for three weeks I went to a chiropractor who put it back into place. I have remained pain free until around 3 weeks ago. after doing the same activity later in the evening I noticed some similar issues as I had before but not as bad, the next morning I went to the chiro and had it placed back once again, the next day my wife fell on me from around 3 foot high and landed on top of myself and I hit the ground also, another trip to the chiro and I have noticed that while the problem has gotten better its still not good yet. I have some sharp pain in my left pec on the sternum when doing bicep curls and running sprints, I can palpate the area and feel some soreness in the left pec near the sternum. I do have some pain in the back still and feel soreness under the left side of my ribs, I also feel some numbness in fingers and some dizziness ever once in a while. When I lay down I can hear my heart throb is seems and I have what I believe had some panick attacks the past week. upon taking a Xanax I mellowed out and felt hardly any thing. yesterday when stretching I felt a pop in the middle of the back and it started to feel somewhat better. Ice and heat makes both the front and back feel better. I had blood work done back in august for just a physical and my NT-ProBNP came back great. My blood pressure hovers around 129/75 and I run and workout 5-6 days a week.
Brief Answer:
Trauma related,not with heart...
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
From what you are describing, it seems that your problems are more related to trauma you had than to cardiac problems.
However, chest X-ray and cardiac echo is advised to rule out trauma related problems of heart and to the structure around pulmones/pleura ect.
Hope it helped!

THank for you for the quick reply. How long does it usually take something traumatic like that to the ribs to heal? Seems everyday its getting better depending on what I do.
Brief Answer:
Depends on the severity of trauma.within few month
Detailed Answer:
Hi back,
It depends on the severity of the trauma. As long as you are reporting improvement day by day, then, in a short period of time (within a couple of months), it will be healed completely.
Wish fast recovery!
