How Long Does Cipro Take To Show Effect?
Question: I have been on cipro for three weeks for prostititis and it works sometime and sometimes not. How long does it take to work. No pain no blood clear urine but have to pee after I drink anything. Doctor did a check of my bladder and says its emptying fine. Any suggestions

Thanks for your query ,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have increased frequency for urination .
I shall be happy if you can post me few more details to help me in making comments on your problem.
1) Do you have urinary symptoms like urgency,nocturnal frequency,burning etc?
2) Do you have pain in perineal region ,or discomfort in lower abdomen ?
3) Do you have painful ejaculation ?
4) Was your ultrasound Scanning of abdomen done prior to confirm the diagnosis of Prostatitis ?
5) Is semen examination or semen culture done ? if yes post me report.
The increased frequency for urination can be due enlarged prostate which is very common at this age .
Please consult qualified Urologist for clinical and digital rectal examination and get following basic tests done to confirm the diagnosis.
1) Urine routine and culture.
2) Ultrasound scanning of abdomen and pelvis
3) Serum PSA.
4) Semen examination and semen culture .
In the mean while continue taking antibiotic along with anti inflammatory mediccine twice daily.
Further treatment will depend upon result of these tests and final diagnosis.
