
How Long Does Corticosteroid Take To Show Effect?

Question: I have been recently diagnosed with adult onset asthma. Actually Very mild asthma This was diagnosed from a series of tests including PFT which a bronchodilator test had substantial improvement. The broncho test was an albuterol or short time inhaler, I was given qvar a corticosteroid, how long does the use of the long term take before i may see results

So I have to answer this. Sorry if you don't like.
Usual time to see improvement after inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) is 1-2 months.
Every six months, PFT should be done. On the basis of PFT result, tapering down of ICS dose should be done.
By doing so, we can stop the asthma inhaler after 1.5 to 2 years.

Well MR/DR All around kind of specialist, Give me a suggestion to fall back to sleep when I wake at 2:30 in the morning and toss and turn wishing I would fall back asleep but because I am thinking that and watching the clock to make sure I dont oversleep, I never fall back asleep. Oh i do not do that on my days off work. the days i can sleep in.

Correct during the week, i sleep for about 5 hours then i am awake and fail to fall back asleep. I think it is because I am afraid to oversleep work and I hate alarm clocks so I do not use one. need a new wake up system that is easy on body

I hate to be startled out of a good sleep. Its more stress to lay in bed awaiting for that blasted thing to wake you out of a good sleep than waking naturally. I just wake to early
Just trying to remember, did we agree that continuous prolonged anxiety causes chest muscles to tighten around ribs restricting the ease of rib expansion during breathing. I have had this a few times since this all began 3 years ago. not many but enough that it triggers a bit of panic

I head to bed around 8:30 Read till 9-9:15, roll over and am asleep within 5 minutes, I tend to wake at 2:30-3AM, No Naps, wish I could, i once did when I lived near work. now I am too far away to do so.
