How Long Does Olmetec Take To Normalize BP Levels?
Question: How long does it take Olmetec to start working? I have just taken 1 x 10mg of Olmetec and 1 x .25mg of zanax 1 hour ago but my BP is still 160/95.
consult treating doctor it may need change of drug. so many drugs are available. may be combination with diuretic will work. salt restricted diet may be essential life style change is essential alcohol and smoking are to be stopped.

Unable to consult treating doc at this time. Should Olmetec work rapidly or does it take a few hours? Is it safe to double my dose if BP contines to stay high over next few hours or do I need to go to ER? Is 165/90 considered dangerous?

It should take 30 minutes to one hour. There are other factor which influence this, like formulation of drug and food content of stomach.
In empty stomach it is absorbed quickly, it reaches peak and recedes slowly. Accordingly you have take the tablet and take precaution for other activity. Control your activity considering onset of action duration action and peak level of drug.can not or should not double the dose without consultation with treating physician.it may be harmful and have harmful side effect.
BP of 160/90 is not that dangerous or too much of an emergency. Yes it is needed to bring it down to less than 140/90. I think the drug will show its effect and the BP will come down. Taking rest and sleeping also brings it down. Take low salt diet and avoid high calorie foods like cheese, butter, cream etc. Also avoid alcohol.
If it doesnot come down then you may see a doctor.
