How Long Does Remeron Take To Show Antidepressive Effect?

I am now on REMERON at night, 7.5 as well as Ran-PREGABALIN,
Last night I could not sleep and had to take a zipaclone.
I need to know I should give this Med some time.
Mirtazapine will take about 3-4 weeks to show full antidepressant effect
Detailed Answer:
Hello thanks for asking from HCM
I can understand your problem. Remeron is Mirtazapine and the drug belongs to NaSSA (Noradrenalin specific serotonin antidepressant) group of antidepressants. At about 7.5-15 mg doses the drug helps in sleep. The drug is a good antidepressant and it doesn't cause rebound increase in anxiety when the drug is started unlike Cipralex or Paxil. But the drug takes about 3-4 weeks to show its full effects so you have to wait for that time to get proper effects of drugs.
Pregabalin is an analgesic drug that has anti anxiety effect. The drug also cause sedation and it supplement the actions of Mirtazapine. As you are now on Mirtazapine and Pregabalin and still could not sleep, I would advise you to wait for some time to see the full effects of drug. For some time you can take Zopiclone on SOS basis as per your prescription for sleep.
Thanks, please don't hesitate to ask again if you have more doubts in follow up question.

I have increased the Remeron from 7.5 to 15 last night, as the Dr. instructed.
I still took 100 of Pregabalin. I slept fine, but today have have that feeling of anxiety in my stomach.
Is this expected with the increase in the Remeron?
Will my body get used to it?
I have taken .25 of clonazepam.
I have only been taking the Remeron for 1 week
Regards
Slight increase in anxiety is expected with increase in doses
Detailed Answer:
Hello again, thanks for asking a follow up question
The slight increase in anxiety with increasing the doses is expected and no need to worry. You have just started taking Remeron or Mirtazapine and as per my opinion it should take time to show its full effect. Usually as I have also mentioned in my last answer the drug will take about 3-4 weeks to show its effects.
Yes the drug is safe drug and 15 mg doses is not very high dose. Your body will get used to the doses of drug in some time may be in 2-3 days.
If anxiety become severe you can take Clonazepam 0.25 with consultation of your doctor on SOS basis. This will help to reduce the symptoms.
Thanks, hope this helps you. Please ask again if you have more follow ups.

I am still taking 7.5 of the Remeron because I just wanted to see if that is what caused the anxiety, and it was.
I am going to increase to 15 ml after seeing the Dr.
Once again, I could not sleep last night, but had a good sleep night before.
My Dr. says that 7.5 of Remeron is not a therueputic dose and I will increase to 15.
(my Dr. is not a full fledged Psychiatrist but a GP with some extra psych training.)
I would like to know that when I increase my dose, and give it 3- 4 weeks, should I expect the drug to also work as an anti-anxiety?
Should I hope to sleep properly?
Also, can I expect to decrease the Pregabalin?
Again, this is a great resource. I don't get all the details about the drugs from my dr.
Regards
Suzanne
Mirtazapine at 7.5-15 mg doses helps in sleeping
Detailed Answer:
Hello thanks for asking a follow up question
Coming to your questions
- As mirtazapine is NASSA drug this will help in anxiety and depression also. Even at 7.5 mg it results in reduction of anxiety. Yes in 3-4 weeks it will work as anti anxiety and anti depressant drug.
- Yes the doses of 7.5 to 15 mg help in sleeping properly and don't increase risk of dependence like other common sleep medicines.
- Pregabalin is safe drug and for some time as per my opinion you should not decrease its dose. When you start to see improvement in sleep and anxiety symptoms then you can reduce the doses of drug gradually. This will not increase anxiety.
Hope this helps you, please make change in your drugs after taking proper prescription from your doctor only. Still have more doubts please ask again.
Thanks
