How Long Does A Biopsy Take?
Question: My sister was diagnosed with stage two bladder cancer in january. they have not started any treatment. This is april and they just now done a pet scan.why it took so long i do NOT know. it showed she has breast cancer, liver cancer, colon cancer, and of course the bladder cancer. They told her today she needed a biopsy of her liver so come back in three or four weeks.so they have out her off another month. they said if the liver cancer is bad they can’t do chemo. i know people who had chemo even though they had cancer in the liver. it looks like to me they are just letting her die. she has medicaid ins if that matters. my sister is 73 so i figure they don’t want to help. i am confused, can you help me understand?
Brief Answer:
The biopsy takes 3 to 5 days
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
So, a biopsy takes a maximum of 5 days and then treatment can be started immediately. Even if she has liver involvement, chemotherapy can be done if she is fit, walking and taking care of herself and if there is no jaundice. With chemotherapy, lifespan can certainly be extended.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

why are they waiting so long to start treatment. waiting four months seems a little extreme and i never heard of them waiting so long to treat cancer. she has not received any treatment, no chemo, no radiation, no pills, nothing.
i tried talking to her doctor but he won’t call me back. i live in va, my sister and her doctor is in florida. is there a reason this could be taking so long?
