How Long Does A Higher Dose Of Klonopin Take To Show Effect?

I am on Lexapro 5 mg, Klonopin 2 mg, Solian 100 mg and Keppra 1000mg. My psychiatrist decided to give me a higher dosage of Klonopin (from 1 mg to 2 mg), one week ago. I have read in the Web that Klonopin works at full effect after two weeks, so i would like to know if i can expect a better effect of Klonopin after one more week. My psychiatris decided to try this way to avoid some dopaminegic effects of Solian at low dosage, so i am waiting for this effect.
Thanks beforehand XXXXXXX
Klonopin will show effects within a day or two
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
Thanks for writing back to HCM.
Klonopin is long acting benzodiazepine with onset of action maximum within four hours.
Increased dose of Klonopin works at full effect within 1 to maximum 2 days not at all after 2 weeks.
Klonopin acts by binding to the benzodiazepine site of the GABA receptors, which enhances the electric effect of GABA binding on neurons, resulting in an increased influx of chloride ions into the neurons. In this way it acts as anti anxiety, sedative, hypnotic and anti epileptic medicine. It cannot counter the solian dopaminergic effects in my opinion.
If you can narrate me in terms of symptoms by solian which you want to avoid with use of klonopin I can give some more comments.
Hope I have answered your query, I will be happy to help further.
Regards,
Dr.Chitan Solanki
