How Long Does Immunity Last After Receiving Rabies Vaccination?
Stray dog bite
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.
Since the dog is a stray dog and if you have a bite causing breach in the skin of your leg even abrasion/scratches,it has potential risk of rabies.
As you have already taken rabies vaccination 4 times in the past following dog bite, you have pre-exposure immunity against rabies. What you have to do now is to take two booster doses of vaccine on days 0 (now it will be first day of first booster) and 3.
You are now suffering from cold (i.e common viral infection causing running nose etc)).It will resolve with symptomatic treatment like antihistamine (e.g Tab LEVOCETIRIZINE 5mg Once daily at bedtime for 5 days).
Don't worry , let me know if there's anything else I can help you with.

If the said dog is healthy and alive beyond 10 days from the day of bite ,it is not rabid.
You have already pre-immunity to rabies by way of vaccination. Two booster doses of vaccine will enhance your immunity. It is not too late.
Routine measurement of serum neutralizing antibody titers against rabies virus is not required, unless you are immuno-compromised (it does not seem that you have any issue like this).Hence no test is required or advised.
You need not have to undergo any investigation or treatment to find that you are afflicted by rabies.
You are not even close to the incubation period of rabies (defined as the interval between exposure and the onset of clinical disease-usually 20–90 days).

I have a last question. Will that be an 100% cure for rabies if we take vaccination before the symptoms occur?
Dog bite and post-exposure rabies prophylaxis.
Detailed Answer:
There is no cure for rabies.
Purified inactivated rabies vaccines are highly immunogenic and given IM in the deltoid area has not been associated with vaccine failures.
In fact the antibody response is so predictable that serum neutralizing antibody titer need not normally be checked.Hence remain fully assured.
