How Long Does It Take An Antidepressant To Start Working?
Question: I have contacted you before. I was put on Zoloft 5 weeks ago. I was given 50mg for a week then up to 100, 150 and the last 2 weeks on 200mg. I am somewhat better but still have some crying and morning anxiety for which I was given Ativan. My question is, should I be feeling much better by now or should I count the weeks by the date I began the 200mg. Thank you.

Hello,
Thanks for using healthcaremagic.
I read your query and understand your concerns.
The Zoloft is anti depressants and it takes around four to six weeks in majority to act. In few cases it may take even eight to twelve weeks especially when somebody have obsessive symptoms.
As you have shown some response it seems that Zoloft is working for you and there is no need to worry.
You need to continue it at this time and see your doctor.
Sometime we need to add some other medications for faster action of zoloft when the action is slow.
I hiope this hlps you.
If you have more questions feel free to write back to me.
Thanks and regards
