How Long Does It Take To Have Normal Liver Enzymes After Stopping Alcohol?

Question: Howe long for the liver enzymes to torture after stooping alcohol
Brief Answer:
It takes from 1 to 3 months.
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Thank you for the query.
Liver enzymes detected in blood stream are present there when liver cells are injured and die. In normal condition there is some part of liver cells which constantly die and are replaced by new ones. This gives liver enzymes in referential ranges.
Alcohol increases amount of injured liver cells so the liver enzymes level gets high. Immune system cells need some time to clean this dead cells. It takes from 1 month to 3 months. And so is the time of liver enzymes normalization.
Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.

I am having a blood test done in for Alcohol evaluation ... I have not had not any alcohol for 14 days ... can I expect to pass .... I do take Zocor (simvastatin) for cholesterol
Can I expect to get a clean reading / or an acceptable reading
Can I expect to get a clean reading / or an acceptable reading
Brief Answer:
It depends how long you have been drinking.
Detailed Answer:
It depends how long and how much you have been drinking. If it was a long period of time with alcohol (like a month) before you quit drinking, 14 days is not enough to normalize liver enzymes.
If you have been drinking only from time to time, liver enzymes should be acceptable.
