Brief Answer:
Explained below

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor,

I have gone through your query and I will try to provide necessary information regarding post operative care for hernia.

- Recovery following a hernial repair may vary according to the type of operation done and the internal pathology. But usually, since hernia surgery is less invasive, you can be good to go in about 1-2 weeks time.
- There are certain things you need to keep in mind to fasten your recovery:
* Avoid straining your abdominal muscles while walking.
* Avoid climbing stairs
* Avoid lifting heavy weights.
* Eat plenty of fruits and veggies to avoid constipation following surgery and also drink plenty of warm water.
* Press a pillow onto the surgical site while coughing or sneezing so as to avoid excess strain over the abdominal muscles.

I hope this helps,

Please feel free to discuss further,

Regards
