Brief Answer:
Usually resolves within a week of treatment

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX avila77,
Thank you for writing in to Hcm.
This is Dr.Riyanka glad to be answering your query.

Usually mild fungal infections resolve within a week of application of over the counter antifungal creams i.e; Topical Clotrimazole cream. Kindly apply it thrice daily.

Along with this supportive measures are important:
1. Kindly get your partner also screened for fungal infections in the vagina and treated if found positive to avoid recurrence of this problem.

2. Maintain good hygiene.

3. Repeated fungal infections hint towards decreased immunity/ immunocompromised status in which case kindly get screened for Retro virus and diabetes.

4. If the infection persists more than a week or flares up in due course kindly consult a physician for oral antifungal medications. A skin biopsy (skin scrapping of inflammed skin) may be required to confirm if it is a fungal infection.

Hope your query was answered.

Brief Answer:
Most likely a common fungal infection

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for writing back to us.
I have read your entire history in detail.

Antifungal treatment creams can be applied for 4 to 6 weeks to combat the mild fungal infections.
However, within a week of application , if the infection doesnt start reducing or flares up then kindly consult a dermatologist for oral antifungal medications since they are more effective for infections. Kindly use the cream for entire 6 weeks.

to the best of my knowledge, it is most probably a common fungal infection. However, you need to get your partner treated as well as both of you are most likely to have this infection, hence infection would continue to re occur if only one person is treated.

Also kindly maintain abstinence from sexual contact for 4-6 weeks till this gets cured completely.

No other medications are necessary. Just maintain hygiene and keep the area dry.
Also consume a healthy diet rich in fruits and vegetables. Drink good amounts of water.

Hope your query was answered.
