Brief Answer:
Two to three months.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.
I have read your question and understand your concerns.
In most cases of herniated disc disease the disc degenerates, nerve root affected by it decompresses and symptoms (pain) subside after few months.
In few cases, when conservative treatment fails to improve symptoms after about two months, surgery to remove herniated disc is indicated.
So, if you didn't improved after two to three months, you should consider having surgery to ease the pain and prevent late complications such muscles atrophy.
Hope you found the answer helpful.

Greetings.
Two to three months.
